Support the trails. Support your community. Join a club.
When you hop on a side-by-side and hit the trails in Downeast Maine, you’re not just riding through nature—you’re riding through the hard work and dedication of local ATV clubs.
These clubs are the unsung heroes of the off-road community. Without them, the trails we all enjoy wouldn’t exist in the way they do today. They are the reason you can experience epic views, access remote places, and confidently explore the Bold Coast on well-maintained routes.
What Do Clubs Really Do?
1. Trail Maintenance & Construction
From clearing brush and repairing washouts to building brand-new trail systems, local clubs are out there doing the heavy lifting—often as volunteers. They make sure the routes are safe, sustainable, and accessible for all riders.
2. Bridge Between Riders and Landowners
Many of our trails cross private land. Clubs work directly with landowners to secure permission, manage concerns, and keep access open. Without that relationship, trails disappear.
3. Advocates for the Sport
Clubs speak up for our community—whether it’s at town meetings, state-level trail planning sessions, or public hearings. They’re the voice making sure riders are considered in decisions that affect trail access and recreation funding.
4. Giving Back
Local clubs don’t just build trails—they build community. From organizing charity rides and food drives to sponsoring scholarships and supporting local causes, they are deeply embedded in the heart of Downeast life.
Why You Should Join a Club
At Downeast Adventures, we believe it’s every rider’s responsibility to support the trails they ride. That’s why we strongly encourage all of our guests to become a member of any local club. You don’t need to live in Machias or be a full-time Mainer to make a difference—just showing support with a yearly membership goes a long way.
Your membership dues help cover equipment, signage, fuel, and materials that keep these trails open and safe. It’s a small way to give back for the big experiences you get.
Find a Club, Join the Mission
No matter where you’re riding in Maine, there’s a club nearby doing the work to make your adventure possible. Join one. Support many. And be proud that you’re helping ensure the future of ATV riding in Maine.
If you’re not sure where to start, we’re happy to point you in the right direction.
